Illusion of Reality (waking and dreaming states)

Listening to story of Rajarshi Janak and Great Sage Yagnavalkya about dream forced me to realized that the waking state itself is dream and dreaming state is reality. As the sage suggest king, just because cycle of dream is smaller, it will not appropriate to think it is illusion.

All those ambitious kids out there always exclaims they are working hard for making their dream into reality. What a profound realization they have. Only minor error is in not recognizing what they called as reality or waking state is driven by their dream. There is nothing than dream that a man can do. and by dream they are drawn towards whatever goals they have. Some people including me in past, thought by hunger and reality of death man perform their work. Lately I came to realize man without dream (longer dream) will give up their life, just hunger and death could not prevent them from giving up their life. As life solely of waking state is tasteless and dreaming of future drive men to live.

But have we not experienced in time of great pain and grief we have often restored to sleep, where all our fears and past memories pour out and we feel little better. Can't we then believe it as reality too?

Then what about having no dream at all. In that state we are void of right and wrong, sorrow and joy, death and life, we exist as we are. There is this dumb chetana of life alone and nothing more. Then isn't it also the reality where we experience ourselves?

We can see here that before our so called birth and after our so called death, there is no time for this body and is nothing but darkness, in dreamless sleep too we are in this darkness. Here it is continuum of darkness. It by default then is reality.

Then who is awake, dreaming and sleeping? Who is behind all this state and knowing the performance of this body throughout.

Anybody interested, it is better to go through Mandukya Upanishad or just chant Om or AUM as A to waking state, U to Dreaming state and M to sleeping state, and sound after AUM to that which is beyond description. A as Brahma the creator, U as Vishnu and M as Shiva and after that sound as Bramhaman the ultimate.

  1. The dreamers exhaust the world because they want to achieve everything. We should be against it.
Peace is not having to dream. 😅

Hindu Jurisprudence- Smriti And some property law

I just don’t have the energy to write against the popular teaching (perhaps I have read the wrong books) that Hindu jurisprudence is contained within the Smriti, mainly the Manusmriti, and the property systems of the two schools — Mitakshara and Dayabhaga (I forget which region each school belongs to). But these are laws, not jurisprudence. I admit I do not know the subject of jurisprudence deeply — such a tragedy — but it seems to me these were laws made for the time and place according to the wisdom of the sages of that era. The Smriti writers themselves clearly said that the source of their understanding is the Veda. So, anyone who wants to understand exactly what truth Hindus hold must study the Vedas. Those who cannot may go through the Upanishads (major texts distilled by sages to teach the essence of the Jñāna part of the Veda). Those who still find that difficult may turn to the Mahabharata (which is in itself a “great battle” to understand), or they may study Mīmāṁsā, Nyāya-śā...
